THE FIRST GESTURE

For a sommelier, opening a bottle is the first gesture of service. It sets the tone for what follows: the quiet pause at the table, the sound of the cork and the first pour. A Forge de Laguiole sommelier wine opener is made for this moment. In Laguiole, each piece is assembled and finished by hand, giving it a balanced feel, a precise movement and a natural presence in the hand. It is a wine opener shaped by French craftsmanship and made for the occasions when a bottle of wine deserves to be opened with care.

Authenticity

Every Forge de Laguiole sommelier wine opener is presented with a certificate of authenticity, confirming its origin in the village of Laguiole and its creation by the artisans of the Forge de Laguiole manufactory.

This clear connection to place and maker is part of what gives every Laguiole wine opener its lasting character.

Craftmanship

Together with the spring, the handle and the carefully finished steelwork, it gives each wine opener an expression that feels both personal and unmistakably Laguiole.

The bee and the spring are among the recognisable signatures of a Forge de Laguiole sommelier wine opener.

Shaped and finished by hand, these traditional Laguiole details bring character to the steelwork and connect each wine opener to the craftsmanship of the village of Laguiole.

Forged in Fire

Steel, fire and skilled hands come together in the workshops of Laguiole. Here, the metal components of every Forge de Laguiole sommelier wine opener begin their journey before each piece is assembled, polished and finished by hand.

The result is a Laguiole wine opener shaped by the rhythm of the workshop and made to take its place at the table.

The Forge de Laguiole Story

Heritage

A Forge de Laguiole sommelier knife belongs to the ritual of opening a bottle of wine.

Made in the village of Laguiole, it brings the traditional Laguiole line into the world of wine: a considered object for the table, the cellar and the occasions that deserve a little more attention.

Created in collaboration with professional sommeliers, the Forge de Laguiole sommelier combines the elegance of the Laguiole tradition with the confidence and precision needed when opening a bottle.

The Forge

Inside the Forge de Laguiole manufactory, each sommelier wine opener takes shape through a succession of skilled hands.

The steel components are formed and assembled with care. The five-turn conical spiral, the lever and the small cutting blade are brought together to create an opening tool that feels balanced in the hand and precise at the bottle.

From the first work with the metal to the final polishing, every stage reflects the patience and technical knowledge of the workshop.

AUTHENTICITY

Every Forge de Laguiole sommelier is handmade in the village of Laguiole, France.

Its form carries the recognisable language of Laguiole: the elegant line of the spring, the carefully shaped handle and the details that connect the piece to a long tradition of French cutlery.

More than a wine opener, it is an object with a clear origin — created in the place where the Forge de Laguiole tradition continues.

Craftsmanship

A sommelier wineopener must feel effortless in use, while revealing the handwork behind every detail.

The spiral is designed to enter the cork with control. The lever supports the opening of the bottle, while the blade allows the capsule to be cut cleanly before the cork is drawn.

The handle is then fitted, shaped and finished by hand. Each element is adjusted with care, giving the sommelier its balance, reliability and individual character.

Materials

The handle is where a Forge de Laguiole sommelier becomes personal.

Natural materials such as olivewood, juniper, walnut, horn and other carefully selected materials each bring their own colour, grain and texture to the piece. Some recall the landscape around Laguiole; others carry a closer connection to the world of wine.

No two handles are exactly alike. With time and use, the natural material develops further, allowing the sommelier wine opener to become more familiar and more personal with every bottle it opens.
